Destan Kara completed a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Psychological Science at Bond University, specialising in International Comparative Law, Corporate and Commercial Law, and Legal Practice.
Born in Australia to Turkish parents, Destan spent four years living and studying in Türkiye, allowing her to connect deeply with her cultural heritage. This experience shaped her appreciation for cultural nuance, social harmony, and equity.
Destan was selected to compete in Vienna at the 31st Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration 2023 – 2024 Moot. The experience strengthened her interest in international law and her passion for working with clients from diverse backgrounds.
Destan also volunteered with the Gold Coast Community Legal Centre in 2023, where she assisted marginalised individuals and those with limited financial resources.
Drawn to immigration law because it allows her to combine her legal knowledge, psychology background, and personal cultural experience with her commitment to diversity and justice. Having grown up in an immigrant household in Australia, she understands the importance of belonging, identity, and feeling seen, heard, and respected.
Destan brings warmth, confidence, and empathy to her work with clients. She is passionate about creating a safe and supportive environment where clients feel understood and free from discrimination.
