The Parent (subclass 103) Visa is a permanent visa to allow the parent of a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to move to Australia. You can apply for this visa from inside or outside Australia.
To apply for this visa, you must be sponsored by a child who is deemed eligible under the requirements. This includes considerations surrounding their age, Australian immigration status, how long the child has lived in Australia, and their ability to provide you with support, housing and financial help for the first 2 years of your visa.
Your sponsor will also need to provide an assurance of support, to confirm that you will not have to rely on assistance from the Australian government after you enter Australia on this visa.
In addition to having a suitable sponsor, you must also meet a number of additional criteria. One of these requirements is passing the “balance of family” test which, put simply, tests whether you have more children living in Australia than in any other country. You also need to provide evidence of your ability to satisfy this test, including evidence of your relationship to each child and where they live.

You and your sponsor must also satisfy a number of additional considerations, which can include assessments as to your health and character. Supporting evidence, such as police certificates, will be required in addition to the above.
