Contributory Parent Visa
(subclass 143)

The Contributory Parent (subclass 143) Visa is a permanent visa pathway for parents of a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident of Australia or eligible New Zealand citizen and, if granted, results in Australian permanent residency.

You are also required to procure an assurance of support, confirming that you have the means to support yourself or access adequate support, and therefore will not rely on government assistance when in Australia.

Additionally, you will need to show that you are able to satisfy the “balance of family” test. The balance of family test assesses how many of your children are in Australia versus elsewhere. As part of this assessment, you will need to provide evidence of your relationship to each child and where they live.

In terms of evidence, you will need to provide evidence of your identity, your partner and any dependents’ identities (if applying with family), your sponsor’s identity and their ability to meet sponsorship eligibility considerations. You must also provide evidence of the arrangements you have made for health insurance.
