Our migration and immigration lawyers hold professional Qualifications
Our team of lawyers meet all the official requirements set by the office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA).
A lawyer practicing in migration and immigration law must:
- Hold an unrestricted practicing certificate
- Receive supervision as/where appropriate
- Maintain professional knowledge and competence in all aspects of migration law, policy, practice and procedure
- Work within a legal practice
Immigration lawyers undertake extensive legal education. They earn a law degree from a recognised university and must pass strict exams to be admitted to the Supreme Court in their state. This training gives them a strong understanding of Australian law, not just immigration law, but also related areas like commercial, employment, family, and criminal law. Because of this, they can deal with complex legal matters, give strategic advice, and represent clients at all levels, including with government bodies, the Tribunal, and the Federal Courts if needed.
Migration agents, on the other hand, focus mainly on helping with immigration applications. To do this, they complete a one-year Graduate Diploma in Migration Law and must register with the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA).
With our immigration lawyers, you can have confidence that you are receiving advice from experienced and qualified legal professionals.
