Apply for Parent Visas Online Through ImmiAccount

Recent changes made by the Australian Government now allow individuals to apply online for several Australian Parent visa classes, aiming to modernise immigration services and to facilitate more streamlined Parent visa application process for applicants. From 22 April 2026 onwards, individuals will be able to navigate their Parent visa online through ImmiAccount, allowing applicants to complete the entire process online.

This article outlines the benefits of applying for a Parent visa online through ImmiAccount, as well as the Parent visa subclasses now available for online applications following this recent change.

What Is ImmiAccount?

Launched over a decade ago, Australia’s ImmiAccount is the Department of Home Affairs’ central online platform which allows users to submit visa and citizenship applications online, upload supporting documents, and track the progress of their visa application in real time. Although certain paper-based applications still exist, ImmiAccount allows users to navigate a wide range of services belonging to Australia’s Department of Home Affairs through its online portal.

ImmiAccount also integrates with services such as Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO), and My Health Declarations, which assists in streamlining the application process. Users can login to ImmiAccount to access the benefits that the platform offers.

Which Parent Visas Can Be Applied for Online?

A majority of Parent visa classes can now be applied for online through ImmiAccount. In line with the recent changes in legislation, online application options are now going to be available for these visas:

Parent Visa Subclasses Available Through ImmiAccount

  • Parent (subclass 103)
  • Aged Parent (subclass 804)
  • Contributory Parent (subclass 173)
  • Contributory Aged Parent (subclass 884)

However, there is no change to the following temporary Parent visa classes, meaning these Parent visa applications must still be submitted by post or courier in paper form:

  • Contributory Parent (Temporary) (Class UT)
  • Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) (Class UU)

These changes are effective from 22 April 2026 onwards.

Benefits of Applying for a Parent Visa Online

Several Australian Parent visa classes can now be applied for online directly through Australia’s ImmiAccount portal. This transition to online Parent visa applications will help streamline visa application processes and allow applicants to better manage and track their documents in real time through ImmiAccount. Immigration matters and their applications are being adapted to the modern world, enhancing efficiency by utilising the benefits that technology can provide.

Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA): Paving The Way For Skilled Workers And Australian Businesses
